👁️ Know Thyself
The "Know Thyself" series explores philosophy, theology, and psychology for insights on the art (and science) of self-awareness. Expect to learn perennial ideas and psychological concepts on human nature, along with philosophical lessons on the art of living.
Course Overview
A 12-week study exploring the art, science, and philosophy of self-awareness. This series ultimately aims to accept the invitation to self-exploration posed by the Delphic maxim, “know thyself,” inscribed at the temple of Apollo.
Regarding the need for self-examination, the American philosopher Will Durant (1885—1991) noted,
Philosophy begins when one learns to doubt—particularly to doubt one’s cherished beliefs, one’s dogmas, and one’s axioms. Who knows how these cherished beliefs became certainties with us, and whether some secret wish did not furtively beget them, clothing desire in the dress of thought? There is no real philosophy until the mind turns round and examines itself. — The Story of Philosophy
