🏛️ Sundays with Seneca

Sundays with Seneca is a weekly series exploring Lucius Annaeus Seneca’s writings and Stoic philosophy. Each week offers a contemporary interpretation of one of Seneca’s letters, accompanied by a reflection exercise. *** This series is exclusive to members.

Dear fellow travelers,

After a lengthy break from the Sundays with Seneca series, I’m excited to announce its relaunch. This time, I plan to share 52 of my favorite letters, sometimes with audio and sometimes without. I also intend to include a robust reflection exercise each week, aimed at helping turn these words into works.

How We Lose Our Days

Letter 1, On Saving Time

Keep going, my dear Lucilius—free yourself for your own benefit.

Protect your time.

Preserve it.

Until now, it has been taken from you, stolen, or just slipped away. Convince yourself to truly believe what I’m about to say: some moments are snatched away, some are gently taken, and others quietly drift beyond our grasp.

But the greatest shame is the loss caused by our own neglect.

If you truly examine the matter, you’ll discover that most of life slips away while we’re engaging in harmful activities, a good portion while we’re doing nothing at all, and nearly all of it while we’re involved in pointless tasks.
