Dear Fellow Mortals,
I want to share a small but important update about the future of this newsletter.
Going forward, this newsletter will be called Dying Every Day.
At its heart, the project is still about learning how to live with wisdom and attention in the time we have been given.
For some time, I have written here under the name Perennial Meditations. I still like the name. It reflects much of what I have tried to offer: brief reflections on ancient wisdom, philosophy, character, attention, and the art of living.
But over time, I have realized that the clearest center of this work is most closely connected to Dying Every Day.
The heart of the project is simple: to never stop learning how to live.
That phrase gives a clearer home to the themes I return to most often: mortality, discipline, attention, gratitude, character, and the art of living.
Another way to say it is this: Dying Every Day will be a home for meditations for mortals—reflections and practices for people trying to live with more wisdom and attention in the time they have been given.
This does not mean the spirit of Perennial Meditations is disappearing.
I will still draw from philosophers, saints, sages, and great books. But rather than keeping that work in a separate container, I want to bring it into a more focused home.
Going forward, you will see a few recurring forms:
Dying Daily—shorter Stoic reflections on mortality, discipline, attention, and the art of living.
Dying Every Day—longer essays on Stoicism, mortality, modern life, character, discipline, suffering, and the art of living.
Letters from a Mortal—occasional personal reflections on books, faith, philosophy, culture, and the attempt to live wisely as a mortal.
The School for Mortals (coming soon)—the deeper, member-supported side of the project: audio courses, long-form essays, practical exercises, and resources for building a rule of life around what matters.
The goal is not to add more noise. It is to make this work more focused, useful, and sustainable. That matters to me because your attention matters.
If I am going to ask you to keep reading, listening, or supporting this work, I want it to be clear enough to understand and steady enough to be useful.
This is not an ending, but a turning.
Perennial Meditations was a beginning: a way of exploring enduring wisdom from philosophical and spiritual traditions.
Dying Every Day is where I want to carry that work now, with more clarity, more practicality, and more room to return to what matters most.

Congrats on finding a clearer center for the project. I just discovered you, but I think the rebrand sounds great!
Thoughtful update. Whatever it’s called, it’s an amazing and thoughtful reflection. Thank you! Looking forward to learning more in the future
